Call for Peer Supporters, Mentors for the Homeless during COVID-19

The City of Toronto today has nine new facilities (recreation and community centres previously closed as well as some motel and hotel rooms) to spread out the Sheltered homeless population from their close (1 metre) proximity quarters in shared areas - with dozens to many more - during COVID-19. Peer Supporters can assist the Front lines by reducing excessive stress, mental health and substance use illness to keep our emergency rooms and ICU beds available. Mentor/Mentee Canada has training available during COVID-19 for Mentors and Peer Supporters to provide Warm Line calls. A Warm Line is a non-crisis, non-emergency line that provides listening, compassion, support and resource tools for a homeless or sheltered person. If you have experience of homelessness and are recovered, and would like to train as a Peer Supporter, or if you would like to become a Warm Line Mentor for those Homeless, please contact elizabeth@mentormenteecanada during this time of anxiety, and transition. Thank you!
